§ Sheriff Harry S. Truman, his face completely devoid of expression, clutches a freshly poured cup of coffee and silently follows Lucy's first wittering monologue of the series--
Lucy: Sheriff, it's Pete Martell up at the mill. Um, I'm gonna transfer it to the phone on the table by the red chair. The red chair against the wall. The little table with the lamp on it. The lamp that we moved from the corner. The black phone, not the brown phone.
§ While taking pictures of the plastic shrouded corpse of Laura Palmer, Deputy Andy Brennan breaks down and begins sobbing.

Truman sighs and inquires: Is this going to happen every damn time?
Andy: I'm sorry. I'm so sorry...
§ Upon arriving in Twin Peaks, Special Agent Dale Cooper is escorted the the hospital morgue by Sheriff Truman to inspect the remains of one Laura Palmer. They are waylaid en route by a giggling Dr. Jacoby who has jumbo foam plugs protruding from his ears and a wide grin across his face.

Truman: Yes. This is special agent Dale Cooper.
Jacoby: Gary Cooper?
Truman: Agent Cooper ...
Jacoby (still giggling): Oh, by the way, Laura's parents, they didn't know she was seeing me.
Jacoby chuckles softly as Truman and Cooper walk away.
Cooper: Psychiatrist?
Truman: Yeah.

Truman: We call her The Log Lady.
§ Lucy, aimlessly batting a rubber ball with a paddle, listens to Deputy Andy’s torturous squeals on his trumpet. The phone rings and Lucy motions for silence.
It's Leland Palmer, whose wife has apparently had a vision of Laura’s killer.

Andy reports: He’s unarmed!
§ Truman and Cooper burst in on Bob, who rasps out a chilling announcement that he will kill again just as the one armed man, rushes in waving a pistol with his good hand. There is gunplay. Sinking to the floor in a great deal of pain, Gerard pauses mid-sink to inquire of Cooper: “You got a nickel?”
